whilst we try
Sep. 17th, 2015 10:20 amI need to keep seeing this stuff so that I keep going forward. There are reason's for me to keep going forward, to power through. Here's a lecture by Kevin Anderson.
An interesting quote:
"I think that the IEA view, the International Energy Agency view, is actually fairly accurate -- When I look at this (CO2) data, the trend is perfectly in line with a temperature increase of 6 degrees Celsius, which would have devastating consequences for the planet -- Now, you have to be careful not to use too much precision in climate change; I'm not particular on the sorts of things that I look at it, carbon budgets and temperatures, whether it's 4°, 5°, 6°, all it's saying is that it's a very high temperature change from where we are today, as I was pointing out earlier, a very different place to live, a different planet in effect. Also, this is taken from the new-ish president of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, he was saying at 4° C, there will water and food fights everywhere, and I don't think that he means custard pies and throwing water bombs, I think he means actually looking at each other and shooting at each other and killing each other. That's the sort of world he's looking at 4°C. That's where we're heading at the moment, it looks fairly clear about that.
My conclusion is much more optimistic, and I still think we have this choice. I don't think that we'll succeed here. I think that we will fail. But I'd rather us to fail whilst we try."
