Gliese 581 50% bigger than earth and 5X more massive, so I'm thinking we'd be squished like bugs from the gravity. Anybody know what the g's would be on this lady?

2.2ish, I've seen. It will be a little higher than it would be if we just scaled Earth up 5x in volume, because the planet's mass will compress it a bit.

That's right, given the estimates of diameter and mass. 5x the mass over 1.5^2 is 5/(1.5*1.5) = 1/.45 = 1/(9/20)= 20/9 = 2.2, as

(Since acceleration is mass * constant/r^2)
