Apr. 16th, 2005 10:05 amI took the kids to the lower harbor park yesterday. It was great. We ate sandwiches and tried to fly kites (the wind was too wild). I took a walk along the lake:
The Lady's Spring
The ice has melted
Free, Her heart murmurs
Waves against the shore
Not yet awake, lazy
But when she wakes, oh!
When she wakes -
Thunder
Wind
Aching Desire
She will dance her wild
Dance
Wind whipping her hair
Thunder in her laugh
Maybe the walk made me feel too fey and wistful. I probably shouldn't have gone to see Mark. But once home, I fell asleep right away.

Apr. 9th, 2005 11:15 amRuby and I went and measured the space where the proposed cafe will be: two rooms and a bathroom with a total of 750 sq. ft. I spent the morning working on the floor plan, and I think that it'll work fine, with just a few modifications. It will seat 25, and will include 3 or 4 computers that clients can use, as well as wireless for the laptop crowd (significant, since every NMU student is required to have a laptop).
Today, we are cleaning up our yard. I need to get groceries, and then I work 3p-11p. I posted a poem to 100poems this morning, thinking about a very cold, clear night last January:
Acute
I heard the stars sing
black night air taking
slow cold sips of my
soul, empty I lie
calm clear open free
singing silently
