So, I was thinking about "The Doctor's Wife," and now I'm wondering -- what happened to the mini-TARDIS that the Doctor and Sexy made?

there's this part --

DOCTOR:
A valley of half-eaten Tardises. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

IDRIS:
I'm thinking that all of my sisters are dead. That they were devoured, and that we are looking at their corpses.

DOCTOR:
Ah. Sorry. No, I wasn't thinking that.

IDRIS:
No. You were thinking you could build a working TARDIS console out of broken remnants of a hundred different models. And you don't care that it's impossible.

Here's a picture of it, in the old coral control room. The little red rotor behind and to the left of the big green rotor:

You know what I think? I think that there's a itty bitty TARDIS inside the TARDIS. Totally canon.

For those reading this on DW, come over to my LJ where we're writing a fic. Come play!

-- Reality itself obeyed Amy when she demanded that the Doctor come back. Reality didn't need to be told to bring Rory back.

-- The Doctor keeps bragging about being 907 or 908. Rory considers that to be the impetuousness of youth and hopes the boy will settle down.

-- Rory is so bad ass that an entire Sontaran clone batch was named Roranicus.

-- Rory once stared at a Weeping Angel so hard that it shat a gargoyle. He called it Barry.

-- Rory Williams once shot a Dalek. With his bare hands.

-- Rory's catchphrase is "It's a Time Lord. I keep a Time Lord now. Time Lords are cool."

-- Rory persuaded the 60s rock group The Quarrymen to change their name.

-- Rory can survive death because the Grim Reaper knows better than to fuck with Rory.

from BBC America:

"A special one-off drama for BBC Two has been commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who next year, and it will be a 90-minute dramatization of the behind-the-scenes events leading up to the broadcast of the first episode, An Unearthly Child.

An Adventure In Space And Time is being written by Mark Gatiss, and will explain how a funny idea about an old man in a telephone box went from concept to script to rehearsal room to living room, and then became a national obsession with the arrival of these strange new creatures called Daleks. And according to Mark himself, the casting of William Hartnell as the irascible First Doctor played a huge part in the show’s early success.

In a press release sent out by the BBC today, he said: “This is the story of how an unlikely set of brilliant people created a true television original. And how an actor – William Hartnell, stereotyped in hard-man roles – became a hero to millions of children. I’ve wanted to tell this story for more years than I can remember! To make it happen for Doctor Who’s 50th birthday is quite simply a dream come true.”

Steven Moffat added: “The story of Doctor Who is the story of television – so it’s fitting in the anniversary year that we make our most important journey back in time to see how the TARDIS was launched.”

Casting hasn’t been finalised yet, nor is there a broadcast date (although November 23rd, the actual anniversary, seems a good place to start)."

doctor who rec

This one is just so -- it's short and well done, but it's the idea that is so, so perfect. Holy Wah, just go read it.

If you have any love for the brilliant Ace McShane, you need to go over to lyricwrites and read Dragons of the Mind. Ace and Eleven. It's just wonderful.

Okay, here's the deal:

I'm looking for people who are interested in being part of a group project. I've mentioned this before, but I really want to get serious with it. At the same time, I want to give it time to come together; I'm not interested in a rush job.

We're going to write an EPIC DOCTOR WHO FIC. I'm looking for ten to twenty writers who can commit to one 4000-6000 chapter.

The fic will be based on A Partial Map of Your TARDIS (Subject to Change), created by alibi_factory.

This fic will be a romp through the TARDIS. Up for grabs is not only the map, but anyone who ever was/is/will walk through the doors of the TARDIS. Any Doctor, any companion, any visiting villain. Cannon will include not only the series, but the 8th Doctor movie, the Big Finish audios and the books.

Okay -- now here's where it gets really fun:

I want to present this as a hyper-linked work. You can link your work to music or other sound clips, to art, to other stories -- whatever works. Be experimental and fun with it.

Then we're gonna give it it's own LJ/DW page.

So who's with me? Come on! Dooooo iiiiiit! When we have a core group, we'll brainstorm on the over-arching story line, sketch out what we need to accomplish for our chapters and then start putting it all together.

Finally -- PIMP THIS OUT TO EVERY FICCER YOU KNOW. Please! Help me get the word out.

Okay, the first draft of the first book of the comic is done and off to my collaborators for crit.

There's a lady out in the township who sells perennials, and I'm off to buy plants and such -- I've set myself a $20 budget for today. Ooh, maybe not! Just noticed the time! Aagh! Gotta go pick up Sam, and then get taco stuff.

A good morning, though, and the Doctor awaits.

It makes me happy and it makes me a better writer. FTW.

"He’s like fire and ice and rage. He’s like the night and the storm and the heart of the sun. He’s ancient and forever. He burns at the center of time and he can see the turn of the universe. And he’s wonderful."

Ok, so I finally watched a couple episodes of Dr. Who...

I'm totally smitten. Good grief, I joined Netflix so I could see 'em in order... *taps foot* and my next disc won't be here for a week.

I'm such a geek.
