ljgeoffThis morning, when I walked in my house, I noticed how bad it smelled; like dog and undefined human/garbage/rot funk. Bleh. I'm sure that a big part of the smell is the floor in the kitchen. It's foul. I can't decide what to do, because I don't have the money to replace it.
The floor is wood sub-flooring with carpeting glued over it. We had a problem with the sink and the carpet by the sink was just horrible so I tore it up. Now I'm considering taking up the whole floor. On the one hand, I don't know what's under it -- on the other hand, it can't be any worse than what we've got now, I think.
I need to hire some help to do a deep cleaning -- a pull all the furniture out, wash the walls and the floors, get all the clutter picked up -- type cleaning. I painted the living room and library last year, but I didn't have enough money to fix the trim and make book shelves. The walls are still bare (art is leaning against the wall) and stuff is laying around in ripped up brown groceries bags and old plastic milk crates.
I'll have about 3 or 4 hours for the next four days to work on stuff. Hmm.

For the Kitchen floor, even if you can just get a big enough throw rug to put over the wood, you'll still be able to take it out and whack on it from time to time. (wait till you see my carpet!)h

Date: 2007-08-21 11:46 am (UTC)I have 3-4 hours/day for the rest of this work-week. Then I've got double shifts on Sat-Sun, and school starts on Monday. I might have Mon, Wed, and Fri nights off, I'm not sure yet because the work schedule is shifting around.
BTW, something is going out in the mail for you today. Keep a lookout for a box bearing the fruit of our walk along the beach.
