Ouch (sigh)
Aug. 31st, 2007 12:42 pmFor quite a while (that is, for almost 20 years now), I've been at various values of unhappy with my level of physical fitness. I've had periods when I was more fit, when I took the time to walk and lift, and I felt much better for it.
Over the last year, my blood pressure has been creeping up, and I've had more frequent episodes of unhappy blood sugar that makes me suspect that I'm heading toward insulin resistance. So, in that weird unplanned way that I have, I took a detour over to the Military Science Department and signed up for a PT course. A 6am, MWF PT course.
Stats: push up -- I could do *1*
sit ups -- 11 in 2 min
I didn't even ask what my time was for the 2 mile run (I actually ran -well jogged- about 1/3 of it), but at least I finished. I will only comment that someone as out of shape as me probably shouldn't be trying to run-walk two miles.
I like the way the military dept does PT, though - very straight forward and no-nonsense. And the Master Sargent is yummy. My goal is to be able to jog the whole 2 miles, do 8 pushups and 30 situps. We'll see.
