"We came across the icy sea, benumbed and froze; we came with cold fish in our bellies and laughter on our tongues, westward across the sunset sea, seeking the oracle. Sea monsters rose from the steal grey depths, breaching with the sound of thunder, their great black eyes looking curious at our masts and sails. Ice and salt stiffened our hair, clung to beards and brows, and we laughed at each other, calling, “Hey! Old man!” or “Watch out, old woman!” At night we slept in a heap of soft fur and warm flesh, except for the captain and the mate, chaste upon the breast of the sea in their cold, lonely beds."

yeah. omigod. That is one tasty bit of read. Oh Lisa, that is gorgeous. I am sighing right now. That was just what I needed. It's been another one of those Sunderland days, and I was missing you all very much. It's so good to reach such wonder and beauty. How the hell do you do it? Are you like Mr.Collins in Pride & Predjudice,'...arranging little lines and words into pleasing forms?' Heh heheh...I love that line, even though I quoted it badly. Geez, Lisa. Please, please tell me there's more.

I get it. You're like every great writer. A SIREN. Of the WORST sort. Teasing us guileless passengers with your lovely songs, stories, and words, luring us in...I know where this is going! Sigh! But oh, what an ending!

*grin* Wanna take a look at the whole chapter and tell me what you think? I'm too close to it. Mike says he likes Lewis Door better, but it might be a style thing.
