So, did anyone else get the Death-by-WisCon? It doesn't feel like stomach flu to me -- feels more like food poisoning. Actually, it's hard to separate the effects of the full-blown migraine with the stomach stuff.

But that was yesterday. I'm much better today. Which is why I think it might have been food poisoning.

The suddenness of the outbreak made me think of food poisoning. And if it was, then it should be easier to figure out what you all ate in common.

I wonder, though, how hard the authorities are looking for this sort of thing, and how motivated food vendors are to cover up their tracks. Easier for them if it really was some kind of contagious flu.

I didn't eat anything from the con suite and I got it on Sunday. I did have breakfast in the hotel restaurant, a bagel and yogurt, coffee w/ cream. If anything at the hotel I might suspect the half & half.

I was only sick a tiny bit but with a pounding horrible headache and dizziness. It went away after maybe 5, 6 hours.

According to the National Institute of Health, Staphylococcus aureus food poisoning is the most common type of food poisoning, and is often caused when a food handler contaminates food products that are served or stored at room- or refrigerator temperature. Common examples of such foods are desserts (especially custards and cream filled- or topped desserts), salads (especially those containing mayonnaise), or baked goods.

Symptoms of S. aureus food poisoning include diarrhea, vomiting, loss of appetite, listlessness, headache, cramps and mild fever. Symptoms last for 24-48 hours. Complications have to do with dehydration; drinking an electrolyte-replacing solution is suggested.

I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] sasha_feather about it because she works in a lab where they test this stuff and she said it seemed a lot like food poisoning, not a virus.
