I called Mike today but no answer, so I called Carl. It was a relief to find out that everyone was still alive and functional and all was well with the shop. Though if Mike had said that he'd sold all at a decent profit, I might have been mollified.

I'm tired and rather cranky. We had a wonderful night of Beer and Billie, good beer, lovely pizza and a great reading of The Tempest. The high point was Scalzi's drunken Stephano and Pete's Gollum/Caliban ("Beat him enough, heh, heh; after a little time, I'll beat him too, yesss, precious, yesss.") I laughed so hard I peed my pants. And I got to read Ariel's harpy speach - "I have made you mad; and even with such-like valour, men hang and drown their proper selves."

The one-on-one with Doyle went well, though in truth, she didn't have much new to say. I'm further along on the short, When Big Betty and the Circus Came to Random, Wisconsin -- my American Gothic piece.

People keep coming up to me and asking if I'm okay. I laugh and nod and sidel away from them; I wonder if I am too wild-eyed, too strange. I don't feel particularly strange. But I don't quite feel myself, either.
