Marquette County Light Rail
Oct. 21st, 2008 10:38 amI got a reply from my state representative to the email I sent about my intent to start a grass-roots movement for a light rail line in Marquette County. He said that he loves the idea but that the State won't have any money to throw at it any time soon. I told him that I'm taking the long view.
I'm going to have a meeting at the public library on the first Friday after the election. There's a student Green group that will probably be interested.
I'm really not sure where to start. I've never done anything like this. We certainly won't have a budget; everything that happens will be through volunteer and donation efforts.
I'd like to write an article for the Marquette Monthly. We (well, right now it's "I," but I hope it'll be "we" soon) will need to get a feeling of the public's support for the idea. Yoopers are very attached to their cars. How legit is it for us to do our own polling?
