Nov. 10th, 2008 09:22 amSo, my previous entry has me thinking about the Lewis Door and themes, and scenes that carry the thematic freight...
so, in no order of significance... (I think)
Theme #1) We are all connected. Our cultural stories can all be unraveled back to a place that could be pointed to and called "human."
Theme #2) There is no death. There are endings, points of no return, but the story moves on in a spiral, with interesting loop-de-loops and retrogrades.
Theme #3) "Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine."
Theme #4) Not only is there no true evil, there is no true good; all of life is colored in shades of grey.
Theme #5) With power comes responsibility. Fish or cut bait. It's not the size of the spoon, it's how you stir the pot.
Actually, that may indeed be in order of importance. Hm.
