away and back again
May. 12th, 2007 10:09 pmOn Monday, I piled the kids and the dog in the van and headed down to Lansing to see Mike and meet his other partners.
It was lovely. The kids were bored, but they were good. The dogs even got along. Dawn and Jerry were wonderful and put up with the kids admirably. They said such nice things about me that I am still blushing.
On Thursday (10th), we took the kids to the little Lansing Zoo. They had mercats, and we must have watched them for an hour. We all decided that when we became gazillionairs, we would have mercats.
Yesterday, about three hours into the return trip, the van started making a very alarming vibration. I pulled over to a gas station and found that four of the six studs on the passenger front tire had broken off. Mike had to drive all the way up to come fix it -- I feel bad about that, because he probably could have talked me through it. We were only about 10 miles from his ex's house and I could have had her get the parts and borrowed tools from her. But I didn't think about that until he'd already left, and I didn't have any way of getting a hold of him.
Mike will be coming home sometime this week and staying until the tax return comes in -- his flying money has run out. He's antsy to get back to flying, but I'm so glad!
