The Hadley Center of the Met has released a report that projects: the global average temperature in 2014 to be 0.3C warmer than 2004.

What's a few tenths of a degree? Global average air temperature near the Earth's surface rose 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the twentieth century. (wikipedia) So in the next 10 years, the earths temperature is expected to increase half as much as it increased over the whole of the last century.

The IPCC projects that a 3°C increase will result in hundreds of millions of people exposed to "water stress", shift of cereal growing latitudes, changed of distribution of some disease vectors, increased damage to all coastal areas due to rising oceans, and up to 30% of all species at risk of extinction.
