Take Two, Tumbling After

She wiped her face in her sleeve and looked up. Almost there. Jack reached down an impatient hand for the bucket. You’re a part of me, he’d said, you go where I go.

Jill was adept at ignoring her inner voice.

He threw himself up, a ridiculous attempt to impose his will on the cliff face. Even she gasped at the stupidity of the move. He almost brought her with him when he fell. With a shaking breath, she spun and teetered on the edge. You go where I go. She stared down at his broken body.

Not this time.

I have very few regrets in life. I have a lot of "I wonder what would have happened it I'd done this instead of that", but really, I'm pretty darn happy with how it all turned out.

But every time I walk by a poster or display about the Peace Corp, I hover.

So this time I picked up a brochure and I'm in the process of filling out the application. I don't know if I'll go, but I'll see if they'll accept me, and see where I am then (Aug 2010) and make my decision then. Though they don't accept children, there's nothing saying that Mike and Luke couldn't come along on their own dime. I dunno, still thinking about that one. August 1, 2010, the boys will be 25.4, 23.4, 23, 18.92, 17.87, and 9.65 years old, respectively.

The application is daunting.

For those of you who missed it:

A small bat that was spotted blasting off with the space shuttle Sunday and clinging to the back side of Discovery's external fuel tank apparently held on throughout the launch.

NASA hoped the bat would fly away before the spacecraft's Sunday evening liftoff, but photos from the launch now show the bat holding on for dear life throughout the fiery ride.
