Today I go in to the hospital for a short test. I've been having trouble with stress incontinence for years, and my great Family Practice doc, has sent me to a urologist to see if there's anything that can be done, surgery-wise. So the doc is going to do a cystoscopy, which is "an exam that allows the doctor to directly view the urethra and the inside of the bladder." If you are thinking, "my, that doesn't sound very comfortable", I think that you are probably right.

Owie.

As someone recently recovered from a UTI, and experiencing a bit of stress incontinence myself due to plain old menopause, I wince in your general direction.

They used some kind of numbing gel, so it wasn't too bad. The worse part was when they wanted to measure the capacity of my bladder - "Now, tell me when you feel really full...can you hold a little more?" It seems that I have a smallish bladder. I hold about 450 cc's. That's a weird thing to know, eh? (well, I've always _known_ it, but to have it proved...)
