late berries

I've been so preoccupied with ... stuff -- that I haven't done some of the fun things I like to do in the autumn, like making jam from late wild fruits and berries.
I'm on my last overnight with my client. We walked down to the park today and I flagged a big, productive fox grape growing along the east side of the park fence and a wild black cherry growing along the north fence. When I get off tomorrow in the late afternoon, I'm going to go grab a couple of buckets, pick them both and get them into jars. Reminder: pick up some lemons and pectin.
On Wednesday, we're all heading up north to Negaunee. I can't wait! In between all the visiting, I'm hoping to pick some chokecherries. Chokecherry jam tastes like ... sweet tarts, I guess. Except better. It's my favorite.
We're also going to take a look at this property.
If anyone is interested, I'll post the recipes and take some pics but really, these jams are super-simple -- fruit, sugar, pectin and lemon juice.
My goal is to get up at least 8 pints of each -- that'll give us two pints a month, which is about what we went through this year.
Note to self #2: Next year, take a week off when the raspberries are coming in, damnit.
