I don't know if the above quote is true, but it feels like it right now.

My son Sam, his wife Kayla and their daughter Torrin have moved into their own place. It is a relief to have less people in the house, and it's a relief not to have to vicariously experience Kayla's anxiety around Jerome's assholery.

But the big news, the really, really big news, is that Jerome is trying to move out, too. I don't know if he'll stay on target, but I'm actually hopeful.

I'm trying to imagine having a ... not quiet but more happy, calm house. We'll see.

Anyway, there is a lot of work that needs to be done before I get my room back. Because even though Sam and family are out of Luke's room, the little boys are still in Mike's and my room because Luke is in their room, because we need to gut Luke's room, rewire it, insulate it, put up sheet rock and paint it. And probably get new carpeting, too. We've already got some of the sheet rock (drywall), so I think another $50 should cover that. We've already got the tape and mud, too. The outside-facing wall is about 13 ft, I think and the ceilings are about 8 ft, so I need some 104 sq feet of insulation; a $15 roll of fiberglass insulation covers 31.25 sq. feet, so I'll need four of those -- $60. Romex (for the wiring) runs about $40 for 250 ft; might as well get the big roll 'cause we're doing the other room next. And then there's the extra stuff for wiring, wire nuts, boxes, etc.

So, I'll estimate we'll need about $175 to do the room. Hmm. First, we need to set aside money for my tuition ($400 coming out March 5 and another $400 in April) and we need to get a 2X12 daughter-joist board (just $15), because the house is sagging.
