24 hrs ago, the transmission went on my little red Festiva. I couldn't sleep last night, trying to figure out how I was going to work things around. Laura gave me a ride to work this morning. I should have been exhausted, but the day went pretty well.
Then Rosemary called me at work around 2p - She was at my house (she and Len had gone to the shop), and the basement door had blown open, and a pipe had busted in the basement, and there was about 3 inches of water down there. Well, my drains had been running slow, and now they were plugged. And I needed to fix the pipe. My dad gave me a ride home (he and Mom had been watching Luke), and then Rosemary gave me a ride to the equipment rental place, and I rented a drain auger. Then we went to the hardware store and got some 1/2 copper couplers.
Lucas met us at the house while I was getting the drain auger ready. We cleared out the drain (roots)(my, that was fun!), and then figured out where the busted pipe was (the cold water line by the washing machine). We cut out the pipe, and sweated the patch(Lucas is better at it than me; mine look all sloppy). Then we packed the drain auger into his trunk, and he'll drop it off at the rental place on his way into work tomorrow.
I've gotta catch the bus in the morning - it's just a couple blocks away from my door. Laura will watch Luke after Headstart (pre-school), and then come and pick me up. Then I'm going to go out into the garage and look at the Dodge Caravan that Mike didn't have time to fix, and see what I can do. Cory is hopefully coming over this weekend to help me with it.
I'm just staying up to switch my laundry from the washer to the dryer. Gotta get up at 5:30.
