arctic ice
Jul. 4th, 2015 09:05 pmNo update yet for June from the NSIDC. But here's a quote from the arctic ice forum:
It is a ways from the pack, but the forecast suggests temperatures over large stretches of open water in the Chukchi at or above 10C.
Ice all around the periphery is rotten as hell, the Hudson and Baffin quite bad despite relatively low temperatures. Landfast ice is fully covered in melt ponds and breaking up rapidly along the Siberian coast except for the eastern ESS, where its simply vanishing. The whole Arctic seems to be disintegrating into a bowl of small floes mostly under 3-5KM in diameter. -- jdallen
