I keep thinking that there must be some way that I could take a family in. It's crazy, I know. Probably just my subconscious trying to soothe my survivor's guilt. But I would, I totally would. They could stay in the sunroom. It'd be a scrunch, but we've been scrunched before. It drives me crazy knowing that I could literally do this but that there's no way to get a family here. I'm afraid of talking to anyone about it because they'll think I'm a nut, which, yeah, but still.

There's a facebook page, Open Hearts Open Homes, that has posted:
"So many of us want to help by opening our homes. We hope things change - but right now Americans cannot open their homes to Syrian refugees which is why we are petitioning our government ,and with people like you, showing the world that we are willing and able to accept refugees with open arms. Please see the following links on how you can help in the refugee crisis right now:

How you can help refugees in the US: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/orr/state-programs-annual-overview"

There's a petition to resettle 65,000 refugees in the US by 2016, which is a ridiculously small number: We The People petition to Resettle Syrian Refugees in the US

There's a Reddit post here where a woman wonders if she could host a family.
