ljgeoffMike and the boys got home last night at about 8:30pm. It was very comforting to have Luke where I could see him and touch him. He will be three in a couple of weeks, but still feels very much like 'my baby'. He let me hold and snuggle him for about one minute. Then he needed to check on his toys, to make sure that his favorites were still there.
Carl and Sam gave me quick hugs, and then talked in a flurry about what a great a time they had. I was shocked to find out that Lori would not let Michael and David have the computer that we gave them. She said that they would play games all day and never do their homework or chores. They do have one computer in the house, but it very much belongs to Lori, and the boys can use it only at her pleasure.
When Mike and I finally got alone, he let me have a small bombshell. He had told me that he was going to meet with an old friend, and that they might take their friendship up a notch. Well, the meeting went very well, and Mike wanted to spend the night. His parents were going to be out, so he called to let the boys know, and check on Luke and give them directions. When he called, his Mom answered the phone. So, my dear man, instead of telling some white lie, told her rather bald-faced what his plans were.
Mom hit the roof. She ordered him to come home immediately, which, chagrined, he did. When he got home, they had a talk. Mike explained that I knew that he was seeing Cheryl, and that I was okay with it. Mom did not believe him, and freaked out about him causing a divorce. (at this point in the story, Mike shuddered at the thought of paying child support for six children)
Now, the friend, Cheryl, is an old friend of the family. It's sad, because Mom forbid Cheryl to ever come into her home, and said that if Mike was coming down to see her, that he'd not be welcome to stay at her home either.
We will all be heading down there on December 25-28, and we plan to talk to Mom some more. This is not going to be something that is very palatable to her.
