Aug. 16th, 2005 07:07 pmMy Mom asked me to take the boys to Marquette tomorrow morning; she's taking them to the Escanaba fair. I don't know right now if Luke is going or not. Today he fell off the back porch and broke his collarbone. The doc says that it's not a bad break. All he has is a sling, and the doc said to give him Motrin for the pain.
They didn't have a pediatric sling at Bell, so I had to take him to Marquette. I was planning on going to Marquette anyway, to run errands and give Ruby a ride to work, so Ruby and Len came with me. The first place didn't have a pediatric sling, either, so I dropped Ruby off to work, and went to another place. After he got his sling, I took him to the pharmacy and picked up some kids' Motrin. He was sitting in the pharmacy, chewing on the Motrin, and he puked up all over the place. Poor kid.
Len was with me all day, morose. I dropped him off home, and about ten minutes after I sat down, he called, crying. Bleh.
Kyle, a friend of Carl and Sam's, was hurt today, too. This afternoon, about the time that Luke was falling down the back steps, he was walking from our house to another kid's house, and got hit by a car on US41. Not bad, though. He was at the emergency room the same time that Luke was - he's got scrapes and stuff. Said that he broke the windshield of the car that hit him.
Len wants me to come over, but I feel all wrung out, shut down -- no patience for the emotionally needy, even if his marriage is up in flames. I feel bad about that; I love him and I hate to see him hurting.
