I was just reading my friends' journals, and it got me feeling wistful. Or maybe it's just that Mike is getting on a plane tomorrow morning for Iraq, and I won't see him for six months.

I want to take a walk with [livejournal.com profile] serenejournal. I want to stop by [livejournal.com profile] ailbhe's for tea and play with Linnea's piggy toes. I want to sip wiskey and watch a movie with [livejournal.com profile] kightp. I want to go laugh at [livejournal.com profile] james_nicoll's cats. I think that [livejournal.com profile] elissaann and I would laugh and laugh.

And I know, frustratingly, that I don't know any of you, not really. How wonderful, I think, if I did.

You are right about laughing with me. You can take the girl out of the midwest, but you can't take the midwestern sense of humor out of the girl!

I hope that Mike's vacation was a good one, and that he stays out of harm's way until the next time.

*hugs*

We really, really ought to figure out a way to get you to the next apc (or perhaps the one after, since the next is in New Zealand and I'm not sure many people will be there..) Thanks to those particular gatherings, I've met more of my Imaginary Internet Friends over the past couple of years than in all the time I was on line before then.

And a couple more *hugs* thrown in for good measure.

Actually, reading my LJ means you probably do know me. Probably pretty well.

But yeah, somehow getting everyone to a polycon sounds like a good idea...

But it's like the difference between reading a travelog and walking the countryside.

I've been thinking about hosting a polycon, but I'm not sure that anyone would come up this way. I could host one somewhere a little more central-midwest, I suppose. But it'd be cool to have everyone come up here. :)
