Mike's bummed because Cheryl has bowed out for Christmas, but I gotta say that I'm relieved; no need to "be discreet". I'm kinda wondering what's going on in her head, because 24 hrs previous to the bowing out letter, she wrote that everything sounded good and that she was looking forward to it.

Hmm, here I am, getting all into this, when I've told myself that I'm not gonna get into this. Mike had forwarded my letter to her, and I wonder if that is why she changed her mind. She's said that she's okay with seeing Mike if he's alone, but doesn't want to see him if he's with his family - doesn't want to take away his family time. I told Mike that it looks to me that she's compartmentalized him as "lover Mike" and gets uncomfortable when confronted with "family Mike".

Aargh, enough of this second-hand amature analysis.

Amateur or not, your analysis sounds right on to me.

I'm vicariously glad that she's called off the Christmas visiting; the holidays are stressful enough without this. Have a happy one!

Ha! She changed her mind! Mike's gonna go see her on Friday.

Really, though, his seeing her will cause me no stress. What will cause me stress is waiting for the reaction to the letter I just wrote his mom. I haven't sent it yet; since Cheryl is mentioned in it, I thought that she ought to be able to have a look at it and make any additions or subtractions (that refer to her) before I send it off.
