Jul. 26th, 2006 02:03 pmI have a really horrible kitchen.
grigorii, feel free to valitdate this statement.
The main thing that I hate about my kitchen is the nasty floor covering. It's a low-pile, kinda indoor-outdoor carpeting that was popular in the 70's. The first meal that we ever ate here, Sam dropped a whole bowl of cereal and milk onto the kitchen floor carpet. The intervening seven years have not improved the state of the carpet.
In the corner where I do most of my food prep, so much has been dropped and unable to get sponged out that the carpet there is shiny - ditto for in front of the sink. Today I just blew a nut; it smelled so bad I couldn't stand it. I yelled for the boys to come down and had them cut a huge chunk out - about a 12x3 rectangle. Underneath is subfloor, a little moldy under the yucky spots. It smells better. The boys, by-the-by, were thrilled to be involved in this bit of domestic vandalism. "What is Dad going to say?" Sam asked.
He will roll his eyes and sigh. But the kitchen will still smell better.
