ljgeoffI left home around 5:15 pm (EST). I'd been up since 5am, and by the time I got to Sagola, I was nodding off. I have a terrible time staying awake when I'm driving if there is no radio (and there wasn't) and no one to talk to (and there wasn't), so I pulled over at Sagola and took a power nap.
I bought a pizza in Iron Mountain. Fifteen minutes away, on the other side of Niagara, a heck of a storm hit. I drove slow and munched on pizza. I couldn't see much in the midst of it, but coming through the other side there were bits of leaves all over the road and trees with branches down. In Wausaukee, I stopped and got a ice cream cone.
I made to Ashwaubenon before I had to stop and nap again. I think I slept for a half hour or so at a BP truck stop. Before I left, I filled up the tank ($3.42/gal), got coffee, and looked at the map.
It's a good thing I looked at the map because the W151 exit in Fond Du Lac wasn't marked for Madison at all.
The worst part of the trip was the half hour I spent driving around the Capitol Loop looking for the damned hotel. I finally got in around 12:30am, woke everyone up getting into the room, and fell into bed.
I woke up at 5am. My roommates love me.
