I've been taking walks in the evening around Marquette's Presque Isle Park. I start from a point about a mile or so away and walk up the bike path along the beach.

Last night as I walked, I was thinking of [livejournal.com profile] firecat's excellent poem Burgess Shale and started humming,

Dinosaur bones go stalking through my dreams
Little green men with little green death beams
Collapsing galaxies, Wookies that sing
These are a few of my favorite things...

Along the path, the thimbleberries are turning pink and there are tons of sugarplums this year. Chokecherries, too. Let me know if you want a jar of chokecherry syrup, and I will send it to you.

This morning, as I blinked at the ceiling trying to wake up, a whippoorwill trilled. Beautiful. It's cool today -- a good thing because I have plans to bake rhubarb pie. And a lemon meringue, too. Mmmm. I have a good life.
