crazy head
Oct. 22nd, 2007 11:25 amI've been having quite a time with migraines this month. Right now, I'm not in any pain at all, so I can think straight and even eat lunch.
This is the third week. I've never experienced this - well, maybe I did in the beginning, when I didn't know any of my triggers. But for the last ten years or so, I've been getting an average of 1 full blown migraine a month, and sometimes only every other month.
Three weeks ago, I started with a full blown migraine, followed by migraine symptoms every friggin' day. Most of the symptoms are weird halos - tingling skin, weird pain that zaps around the interior of my skull like lightning strikes, there and gone, along with sensitivity to light and sound, and nausea. I've had four full-blown migraines and four mini-migraines. I feel like my head is attacking the rest of my body. Or something.
On top of all obvious migraine stuff, my thinking is very scrambled. The day after a full-blown migraine, I have trouble putting coherent thought together. And the whole business is starting to really effect my mood, my work, ... bleh, everything.
My migraines now are mostly hormone induced, so it is pertinent to mention that the first migraine started with my menses, and I've been spotting lightly ever since. Something is going on. It's not "just" stress. So, well, I have an appointment at NMU's clinic this afternoon, and we'll see what the doc here says.
Oh, yeah, no word from TNH yet. I'll keep ya updated.

Date: 2007-10-22 06:07 pm (UTC)Given the hormonal link, the first thing that pops into my mind is "perimenopause;" I know a lot of women for whom an increase in migraine was one of the chief and most bothersome symptoms of the change.
On the bright side, every single one of them stopped having migraines entirely once they were done with it. So ...
