two things

First, I've had very little energy for thinking about APC16. I've kindof thought about what I'm going to pack; I've thought about my drive to Minnesota, leaving the car and getting a ride to the airport, what time I've got to do what by; I have vague plans for the consuite that mainly feature beer and chips at this point; I feel a little intimidated by the altpolyites, as usual (oi, they're so smart and with it - I always feel like a hick with pine needles in my shoes); I haven't seen anansi133 since July -- what if he suddenly notices that I'm a 47 yr old pudgy wanna-be writer mom who's a little nutty about global warming and laughs too loud?

Writing all of that helps alot - if that's the worst of it, I know that I'll be just fine.

So, second, Feb 2nd marks the 16th week post-submission of Lewis Door. Part of me thinks I should be heartened that I haven't been rejected yet, and part of me is worried that she never got it or it got lost or it made such a non-impression that she's forgotten to even send a rejection. elisem suggested that I send a "gentle reminder" if I haven't heard anything by week 18 or so. What does a gentle reminder sound like?

Dear Editor, Hi! Remember me? So, how 'bout that crazy little novel of mine, eh?

I have about 5000 for the WIP, but I don't know page nine was too early to start killing minor characters off, let alone funerals at sea.

1) when we see each other, ask me about the list of things that I'm terrified you'll notice about me.

2) Actually, short is good, I think. one sentence would be good, a paragraph might be too much. If it were me, I'd stress that *any* degree of feedback would be appreciated, even just acknowledgment that she got it.

I always find it hard to process that other people are nervous about social get-togethers that I'm nervous about, because everyone else there is so much more awesome than me. This goes for you too.

I can't remember - did I ever send you the list of what we got when we were doing consuite in San Diego? I can let you know what people ate, what they didn't and give you an idea of pricing?

I'm pretty sure that you did, back when I was hosting the consuite for APC15. I do have somewhat of an idea of what we'll have: coffee, bottled water, soda, juice and beer; chips, crackers, bagels, dips and cheese; fruit and veggie trays (one small each); something savory in the crock pot (BBQ? Chili?) and I'd like to do waffles again on Saturday morning.

Any suggestions?
