I cannot squeeze in one more event. This is it; I'm done:

West Coast Trip ............................May 3-12? ..........Seattle to San Francisco

Wiscon ........................................May 23-26 ..........Madison, Wisconsin

BorderWar (SCA) ............................June 13-15..........Ionia, Michigan

Fourth Street Fantasy Convention ....June 20 – 22 ..........Minneapolis, Minnesota

WW (SCA) ...................................July 10-13 ..........Boscobel, Wisconsin

GenCon .....................................Aug 14-17 ..........Indianapolis, Indiana

AltPolyCon ...................................late Oct? ..........Atlanta, Georgia

I'll be going on my own to the West Coast, Wiscon and Fourth Street Fantasy. Mike and the boys are going stag to GenCon. The SCA events are family affairs. I'm not sure yet about APC - definately Mike and me, but I'd like to take the boys, too.

edit: my son Michael is getting married on June 21! Not sure yet how I'm going to fold the Fourth Street Fantasy Convention around a wedding that all the boys are in!

I have May 3 - May 17 off, and I'll be coming out sometime in that 2-week period.

You are definitely in my plans! In my letter to [livejournal.com profile] anansi133, I wrote:

I'd love to visit Pat Kight in Albany, Oregon -- she's pretty damn cool, and would put us up for a night (and probably have some kind of dinner or BBQ or such). I'd love to go down to the Bay area and see altpolyites down there...

I should be buying the tickets at the end of March, and I'll let you know the planned itinerary.

I would absolutely put you guys up, and there would no doubt be food and interesting companions. And, you know: Amtrak stops practically at my doorstep.

Woohoo!

Mike was planning on taking a Festiva down, and staying (or camping in the back yard) at my brother's. You are welcome to camp out, of course, but there'd be no room in the Festiva.

You mean Gencon? If I go, it will likely be with Joe, and I'll be staying at a hotel.

Re: all the other events besides the SFO trip: Gah! I hope you've got as much steam as you'll need for all this!

As for SFO, I'm trying to decide what kind of conveyance to focus on. The Benz needs a lot of work, but it could be converted to waste veggie oil by then, so fuel would be almost free. The pickup truck is smaller and less comfy, but it could have sleeping in the back. And Amtrack takes for f*cking ever, but with two of us, that would be less of a problem.

Do you have an opinion?

Lack of steam is usually not my problem. Focus. Focus is my problem.

I'd say that the pickup and the Amtrack both sound good. I kindof like the pickup for ease of accomodation; we wouldn't have to stress about schedules and such. What would the cost difference be between the two? And how would you feel about driving back, all by yourself?

On second thought, let's just skip the train. I was trying to get some fare information out of them, and was reminded just how third world the whole Amtrak thing really is.

With pickup, I can stay in SFO for a while and then make my own way back- this is a good thing, 'cause I have some family stuff to catch up on, and I'll want you to be arm candy for some of it, if you're up for it.

If I decide I want company on the way back, I can post on the rider boards for someone to share gas with.
