There are some types of housework I don't mind so much and others that drive me crazy. I don't mind dishes or scrubbing the bathroom or even laundry. What I can't stand is "picking up" -- looking at a totally trashed room that is an archeologist's love song of layered papers, wrappers, dirty socks and the occasional orange peel.

The trash part is easy. But what do I do with the odd computer part that I have no idea about? And legos; legos drive me crazy. Piles of books -- kids books, my books, text books -- piles of stuff that people have given me because we are needy, but that I really don't need or want, that should go to Vinnies or something, but I have no time or energy to haul it there. Bleh.

So, to pacify my aggrevation, I am interspersing periods of picking up with periods of writing fan fic and reading fan fic. Since I have thrown myself so completely into Doctor Who fandom, I've decided to go ahead and make myself a fic journal: [livejournal.com profile] ljg_fanfic

I need to go write a post for GaiaWatch, too. Did anyone see the National Geographic program that was on, last Tuesday night? It featured Konrad Steffan -- bleh, I think this is why I've been hiding out with the Doctor so much, lately.

By the way, this comic strip made me howl.

Aarg. Back to picking up. But -- Please. At least I have video evidence of my Savior. All you have is, what? That collection of Jesus fanfic there? -- *hee*

I'm the same way. Josh and I divide chores: I do wet things (dishes, kitchen and bathroom cleanup), he does dry things (vacuuming, tidying) and we rotate laundry. His solution to things that need to leave the apartment through ebay or goodwill, however, is to stack them tightly in our few closets.
