Oct. 31st, 2004 10:36 pmThe weekend in a nutshell:
Friday: Mike's down in Petoskey - Lori is still alive, but there are bad complications. Also on Friday, Sam had surgery (it was supposed to be at 10:30 am, but they didn't get him in 'till 3p) to take the steel plate out of his arm, from the bad break last May. I got letters saying that the bank had turned down our mortgage application. (sigh) Then, work from 4p-10p.
Saturday: Mike's still in Petoskey. Lori was still bad; her aorta had stopped leaking, but her kidneys and, I think, her liver had shut down. I worked from 6:30am - noon at the restaurant, and then 3p-10p at the gas station. The boys had a sleep over, for their birthdays. There were supposed to be 10 guests, but fortunately only 5 showed up. Len, Lucas and Ruby came over and made pizzas, and Len showed them how to roll up characters for D & D.
Sunday: Today started with work - in at 6:30 am to get the grills on, cook the bacon, make oatmeal, fill the prep table - all that stuff. It was very busy, but Nash and I worked well together, and it went smooth.
I got out at noon and stopped to get the candy for Halloween. When I got home, I mobilized the kids for a quick triage housecleaning, and then, dishwasher humming, started on the robes for their costumes. They all went as demons. *grin*
Len, Lucas and Ruby came back over around 1:30pm to run the boys' first D &D game. What a hoot! I sat at the end of the table, sewing machine whirring, making their robes. We made more frozen pizzas, got the boys in costume and headed out.
Mike and Micheal came home this evening. Lori is stable but critical. Her kidneys are still not working, but her bowels started working, and I guess that's good. Michael has some stuff he has to take care of at NMU, and then he's headed back down.
It helped so much to have Len and Ruby and Lucas to count on for the weekend. The whole weekend went by in a blur. I work tomorrow and Tuesday at the restaurant, 6:30am-2:30pm. I feel kinda fried.
