Sep. 10th, 2004 08:31 amToday is my son Carl's birthday. Now he's 13. We celebrated last night at my Mom and Dad's - a tradition. The birthday child gets to pick a favorite meal and what kind of cake they'd like. Carl picked grilled whitefish, and a peanut butter cake. Traditions are good. Today, I'll pick Carl up from school at lunchtime, and take him out to Chinese - another tradition.
We were talking last night about what he wants to study in college. He wants to go into the sciences. He thinks that it would be very cool to go to Mars. So we talked about the different sciences -- environmental, physics, chemistry, electronics. He likes the idea of working on macro and micro ecologies, and he likes computers.
Of all of my kids, he's the most like me, and it's hard not to live through him.
