Amateur

I figured that I've writen some 25k of amateur writing since the beginning of the year. That includes about 10K on Sedlik's Gift, Tales of the Yellow Hand (the WIP), 10K (1) on my Doctor Who fanfic Angel’s Kiss (it should finish up around 15K-20K) and maybe another 5K on my blog GaiaWatch.

I'm having a huge amount of fun doing the fanfic. It's just flowing out of my fingertips, and the Whovians on the site are enjoying it; I have around 400 readers. The piece is, by definition, non-professional. There's a part of me that wonders why I'm spending time on it when I could be doing "real" writing. But the story blasted full formed into my mind, and it's such a joy to find the words to describe what I was seeing. I love it!

I needed some distance from the WIP -- it felt like it was starting to grind. Though I can see the next bit, now.

Still no word from TNH about Lewis Door. I really don't know what to think. [livejournal.com profile] elisem counsels patience, but I can't help thinking that a rejection was sent and one of the boys got the mail that day and it ended up behind the couch or in the mitten bin... Yesterday, I got a large manilla envelope in the mail and my heart jumped into my throat, but no luck. It's been 24 weeks.

(1) I think I started it March 12. For me, that's light-speed.
