Apr. 14th, 2009 10:35 pmPretty much the same old information. I have to admit that I'm pretty disappointed. Live blog Part 1 and Part 2. I found out that the next IPCC is coming out in 2013, and will have more glacier melt info, and maybe some of the methane stuff, though he says it's too early to know that stuff.
Scientists are cautious, and for global warming, that means we get the most conservative estimates. I don't think that this aspect of scientific culture is serving us right now.
I did make an interesting contact - a guy who lives about 15-20 miles away, off the grid on wind and solar. I'm going to give him a holler and schedule a time for me and Mike to go out and take a look.

Date: 2009-04-15 06:20 pm (UTC)Sometimes I wish that scientists were more political than they are. But I can also see how having scientist-activists would not serve us, and more than judicial activism is a good thing.
To me, it's a good argument for science literacy. Which takes more time than we have, and we're going to suffer for it.
