jump into the sky
Aug. 21st, 2012 09:14 pmToday was a busy day, starting with taking Jerome to his visitation at the DHS offices in Charlotte (about a 30 min drive away), and then lunch, going to see a couple of apartment complexes. Then off to a check up for me -- yearly physical -- and then to the school district office to get Luke registered for 6th grade.
Then I dropped Mike off at Sylvia's and kinda vegged out. I was supposed to go into the Obama for America office, but the meeting was at 3pm, and I was across town and had my feet in stirrups around then.
I got home, Mike-less, around 6pm, and I was going to go out and do more voter registrations, but I'm kinda bleh. Luke is over at his friend Aaron's house.
It's veeerrry quiet. Except when Jerome, who's staying with us until he gets his new place, breaks out into rap. He's pretty good.
I was thinking that I would write, but my head is too scattered. I can't seem to focus. What I really, really want to do is write the story Kiowa Woman, but the plot eludes me. I'm bright; why can't I think of cool plots? Just endless vignettes and character studies.
Kiowa Woman is kindof about what it's like to be a little crazy, that is, to have a different reality than most folk -- that's what we call crazy, why I call myself crazy. It's also about making friends and believing in each other. And it's about taking a risk -- believing in yourself enough to use your reality as a jumping off point, having the faith in yourself to let go of safety. Having the faith in your beloveds to trust their reality, trust them with your life.
And you know what? Writing that brought the story a little more in focus for me. Huh. I should do that more often.
