Land Ceremony

ljgeoffThese are my first thoughts to the Land/Steward Commendation Ceremony.
What the Land gives:
Food
Water
air
medicines
materials for clothing
materials for shelter
beauty and splendor
a peaceful spirit
what the Steward gives:
makes the soil ready to grow food
makes shelter for the honey bees
tends the farm animals so they are easy on the Land
keeps human made poisons from the land
tends the forests against fire danger
show deep gratitude for all the Land gives us
We tell stories, make music, and do science, for the Land, to show our love for this Land who asks that we give our gifts on behalf of life.
Each participant will have something to hold to represent their gift -- a bowl of summer berries, a medicinal plant, a swath of colorful cotton cloth, a hoe, a beekeeper's hat, a bow saw -- we'll figure out something for each participant.
And then I think we'll sing a song. Hmm. I think I will talk to a few friends and write up something special. Ah, Kayla said she would come up with a tune if I do the words.
