It's veewwy, veewwy quiet! Mariah has strep throat, and Tone is sleeping too because he is worn out by her pain. I'm so glad that she went in to the clinic and now has antibiotics. I'm not sure what's up with Wolf, John and Dez -- maybe they're all watching a movie or something.

Yesterday, just as I was leaving work and so totally done with being on my feet, a resident called and asked if I'd come talk to him for a minute before I left. I really didn't want to walk down another hall. But, you know, these guys, they have such crazy insulated lives, and it brings me joy to do what I can to help them maintain what normalcy they can. Anyway. The guy had a bunch of bananas that his wife had dropped off, and he'd forgotten about them and now they were brown, and would I like them to make banana bread or something for that hoard at my house?

(We've had talks, now and then, sharing things about our lives and I told him about the hoard.)

I was tired all day today. But still, it was a pre' good day. Chris and I went shopping, and then we met his mom and had KFC for lunch. I laid down while Mike made supper. At first I didn't want to bake, I was too tired. But then I did.

There were seven brown bananas, and after supper I made not only banana bread, but a banana cake, too. I made the cake first, then went and got Mariah's antibiotics, got her settled, got Chris in bed, and made the banana bread. While it started baking, I cleaned up the kitchen and just ... it felt so good! It felt good to have baked, and to have people settled and hopefully feeling better soon, and it felt good to put my kitchen to rights. Even the warm dishwater felt good.
