Because of my and Mike's work hours, we're going to be homeschooling the boys on our days off, which comes to about 5 days a week, but different days, depending on the week. Times will also be here and there, but we're shooting for at least three hours of instruction per day, with at least 20 minutes of one-on-one reading.

Today's lessons:

keyboarding - lesson 1, left hand drill (half an hour)
math - addition and subtraction warm up (15 min)
multiplication and division instruction (15 min)
word problems (15 min)
reading - one on one (20 min) A short bio of science pioneer George Washington Carver - the goal of each reading assignment is to add science, social study, etc content to the curriculum.

It went well! The boys are reading at a higher level than I thought they were -- solid 4th grade level for them both. We didn't get to the word problems, so we'll try them tomorrow. I have found that memorizing the multiplication tables very helpful to me, so we're going to work on that, too.

Edit: Numberock on youtube. Perfect. It raps out skip counting. We will do this.
