We headed up to Houghton last weekend for an SCA event. Pics are here Both Mike and I got our fighter's authorizations, but Len didn't - which I thought was odd, because he's been fighting longer than either of us. Len didn't say what the Marshall had said, other than he needed to work with hit calibration, ie, he's hitting too hard. Man, I wish I could go to the event in May, but I want to go to Wiscon even more.

The army is giving a free counseling weekend to all military couples who have a spouse who's recently returned from Iraq. We have to call this morning to see if there's room in the Mackinaw Island weekend -- that's this weekend. Woot! All free, except for a couple of meals. Then, on Monday, the 8th, we'll be in the Detroit area for an Aviation Job fair. Mike will be going to school this fall. He's leaning towards the community college in Lansing right now. His SO, Joyce, lives there, and he might live with her while he's in school.

Today is errand day. I have all my fines paid up, and I'm going in to get my driver's license. When I hand in my paperwork at the court, the prosecutor will drop the Driving with License Suspended charges -- very cool. Then I get my expensive shoes, so maybe my left foot will stop hurting, and get meds and stuff -- then off to work.

It's decades since I've been to Houghton, but I swear I recognize a couple of those buildings!

And Mackinac Island - woot, indeed! I spent one insane summer cleaning hotel rooms on the island, living in a funky little boarding house with a bunch of other college kids; when the last ferry returned to the mainland, we partied almost every night...
