The Building
Mar. 5th, 2004 02:01 pmI've been talking to Laura and Len about the building in Ishpeming that I want to buy, and they're interested. Having partners would bring the project a big step forward.
The building is older, but very sound. It's long and narrow, measuring about 100' X 50'. There is a ground floor that houses three storefronts, two upper floors, and a basement.
We're talking about putting in 8 apartments for handicapped tenants, each apartment about 500 sq. ft. My coffee house, Niijii's, will go in the Main St. store fronts. There is a little antique shop on the Pearl St. side.
Len wants to put a plastics vacuum-forming shop in somewhere, perhaps the basement.
I had a short telephone conversation with Superior Alliance for Independent Living (SAIL), a non-profit that assists and works as a community facilitator of projects for the handicapped. They are very interested in my plan, and will set up a meeting to discuss possible grants.
Whew!
